Military Bio:

Whitton F. Brill born Nov. 15, 1921 joined the United States Navy and became a GM3 and served on the U.S.S. Canopus AS-9 in the Philippine Islands. Whitton was on the Naval Shore Battalion and became a veteran of Bataan and Corregador. Whit became a POW on May 5, 1942 when he was captured in Corregidor, he spent time in camps Bilibid, Cabanatawan 1 and 3 in the Philippine Islands. He also survived the “hell Ships” and was interned at Osaka and Sacarajama camps in Japan. He was liberated on September 6th, 1945 and on Nov. 2nd, 1998 he rejoined his fallen comrades. Whit passed away November 2nd, 1998, his family and his friends will sorely miss him. Whit always referred to Corregador as “The Rock”, to his friends and family he was there rock.
